Conan Town

Hokuei, Tottori

Since we are going to Japan, we need to visit Aoyama Sensei’s hometown, Tottori. There are plenty of interesting places all around.

(Conan Station)

The station is officially recognized as “Conan Station (コナン駅)” despite still being called Yura (由良) officially by JR West. I went there by taking Super Hakuto (スーパーはくと) from Osaka Umeda Station (大阪梅田駅) to Kurayoshi Station (倉吉駅), then changing to the local line, San-in Line (山陰線), for another 10 minutes to Yura.

(Conan Street)

It’s a long walk from the station to Gosho Aoyama Manga Factory (青山剛昌ふるさと館), but there are plenty of statues and other things to see along the way.

(Conan’s House and Beika Shopping Street)

Just a short stop, the place has a cafe, a restaurant, and a gift shop.

(Gosho Aoyama Manga Factory)

From some manuscripts (that I could not read) to some models that allow visitors to try to recreate locking doors from the outside. I failed, by the way.

Please note that Yura Station is not staffed. You need to buy a ticket at the station and board the train. There are not so many trains, so you might want to plan ahead on the way back so you do not need to wait for a full hour for your next train back to Tottori or somewhere else.
